How Do I Name My Business? 3 Tips on Choosing a Name for Your Business

Making sure you choose the right name for your company can decide the future for your business. You want to make sure that your name is clear, catchy, and powerful. Your name should embrace everything you’re trying to say about your company. Here we’ll list 3 tips on things to keep in mind when naming your business.

Do A Quick Search

Once you’ve come up with the name that best suits you and your company, try doing a quick search on the internet. There’s a chance that the name you want is already in use by another company. When searching for the name of your company it is important to find out the meaning behind the name. Does your company’s name symbolize anything? Does it have a bad meaning? A good one? Make sure you know what you’re trying to say with your new name and what emotion or meaning you’re trying to convey.

Avoid Names That Are Hard to Spell

The last thing you want is for your potential audience not to be able to search for your company. Make sure your company name is easy to spell and easy to access. Avoid any possible confusion when trying to introduce your company to your audience. Another thing to keep in mind is to make sure your company is easy to pronounce. It’s okay for your name to be unique, but if your audience can’t spell it or pronounce it you may be harder to find. Keep it simple, keep it catchy, and keep it easy to spell!

Try Not to Limit Your Company

When picking your name you want to keep in mind of the future of your business. Don’t limit the growth of your company by picking a name that boxes you into one thing. This could mean to avoid geographic locations or specific product categories. This way you’re not stuck in one location selling one thing. You’ll have that room to grow as a company and be able to have your audience grow with you.
