How do I make my Website More Attractive? 4 Ways to Help Your Website Look and Feel Better

August 2019

The look and feel of a website is important for any business. It may be difficult to know where to start when trying to make your site more attractive to your viewers. There are actually 4 basic steps that will help you achieve this goal. The design, pictures, consistency, and usability all play a role in the look and feel of your website.

In a previous blog, we talked about the importance of web design and how it can boost your company. Here we’ll talk about some quick ways to continue to improve the overall feel of your site while also talking about what makes a website more appealing.

Design

The design and color choices you use help determine the overall look of your website by a lot. In a previous blog, we talked about how color theory is important for your company. Both design and color are what catch your viewers eye and pulls them deeper into your website. Concentrate on finding a color palette that represents your company and works on combining them with your design. Once you have both the design and color choice you can then incorporate those into your website. This will help create consistency between your company and your website.

Graphics

Using stock photography can be a helpful and cost-efficient way to add graphics to your website. Especially for early startups that might not have the time to take their own photographs. However, you have to be careful with the pictures you choose to avoid looking ‘fake’. You also want to avoid using overused images to help make sure you stand out. However, if you do have the time to take your own photos, those could help you feel more unique as a company. Photos that you personally take for your website could help communicate an authentic first impression to your viewers.

Consistency

Being able to have a consistent design and feel to your website helps your viewers keep focused on your business. If you have inconsistent pages on your website it forces people to constantly stop to relearn what is on this page versus the last. Concentrate on layering the importance of your information on the website and continue to keep that consistency. Continue a layout that is easy to see and follow that also organizes the different important parts.

Usability

The usability of your website should have everyone in mind. In a previous blog, we mentioned how to help make your website more accessible. Try to keep your website easy and simple to use and scroll through. Don’t put too much information on your pages by filling them up with how great and different your services are. Try to imagine why your customer is coming to your website. Make your website more viewer accessible and more easily navigable.
